Accident radar faster and more informative

Tuesday 7 February 2017
Starting from today, the accident radar operated by Stichting IMN has become faster and more informative. The latest incidents appear almost immediately on the map following reporting to Stichting IMN. This response time is more than a minute faster than in the past. It is also now possible to retrieve further details of every report, by clicking on the incident icon.

The updated Accident Radar

Users can now filter reports according to districts relevant to them. There is also an option to activate an auditory signal with every new report. Finally, a further option has been added to the accident radar according to which all incident reports over the past sixty minutes can be displayed on screen. This function gives a clear picture of the level of activity at any given moment.

The accident radar was launched by Stichting IMN in October 2015. It takes the form of a map on which the latest incident reports received by the National Central Reporting Point (LCM) of Stichting IMN are published. The incident reports relate to accidents, hazardous breakdowns and abandoned vehicles, on the main road network.

Reports are received from police control rooms, traffic control centres and the ANWB incident centre. Immediately following receipt of a report, the LCM calls in the recovery company contracted for the location in question. Stichting IMN estimates that 90 to 95% of all incidents on the main road network are reported to the LCM.
